Snowy Spring Start

The Theater Program Begins Work on their Spring Play, A White Christmas
Snowy+Spring+Start

Although some of us are hoping to put away our sweaters, hats, and scarves and get ready for spring, with all its flowers, picnics, and baseball games galore. Well, everyone except the theater program. They’re ready for another season of winter, and are hoping to get snow this year, even if it is later than usual. This year, the theater program is performing the 1945 film, written by Micheal Curtiz: A White Christmas.

A White Christmas is a classic holiday film, originally starring Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye as two entertainers who team up in order to save their former general’s struggling hotel. Filled with astounding musical numbers, romance, and plenty of festive cheer, the film rings of heartwarming celebration of love and the spirit of Christmas.

Junior Grace Hennington said, “It’s a great film because it’s a classic and the casting is fantastic. Story wise is very happy go lucky, and the resolution is cliche, but in a good way. It keeps me happy while watching it.”

Junior Brady Palmer said “It’s a great film, it shows a great relationship between friends.”

The cast enjoys the film, and loves to be a part of the production, no matter what role they are given. It’s a great opportunity to see what it’s like to step back in time and experience the vintage lifestyle of the 1940’s.

Grace said “I was cast as Judy Haynes, and I like the amount of dancing that i get to do within the show, and i think it will be fun to pursue a character that is very peppy, very 1950’s show-girlesque”

Brady said “I will be playing Phil Davis, and I like how he’s a funny character, and a great friend to everybody around him.”

This year the theater program is hoping to bring something exciting to the table. Although North Texas did not receive much snow this year, A White Christmas will be fun for the whole family, worth the wait, and worth every penny too.
