Influence of Internships

Students share their why they love internships and how it prepares them for their future
Influence+of+Internships

At Prestonwood Christian Academy students are given the ability to intern with staff and companies to gain more knowledge and experience on what they are interested in.

As an intern, you are tasked with all sorts of things; you are basically a job shadow. You will be responsible for assisting with anything you are tasked with, which helps you expand your skill set and broaden your horizons in the workplace.

Senior Alexis Wilon says, “I enjoy interning for my mom’s company because I am majoring in business in college, and I am able to learn about budgeting and cost efficiency, which has given me an introduction to my major.”

Interning for companies is very beneficial to students, especially when you are planning to do something later in life that involves that specific field. It is also a major bonus when you apply to college and can add interning to your resume.

Senior Claire Moye says, “I plan to become a veterinarian when I am older, so interning at my local barn has allowed me to feel more confident about my choice for the future, and my love for animals continues to grow.”

When it comes to your future, it is important to know what you are going to do when you are older. Interning gives you a glance at what that job may look like and you get to see whether you love it or not. High school internships are such great opportunities, because it gives you a chance to enhance your skills for the future.

Senior Lauren Burnett says, “Being able to intern with the school nurse has been one of the most beneficial things I’ve done my whole high school career; I am now certain that medicine is the field I want to go forward with.”

PCA has given all of our students such a great opportunity when it comes to internships. It allows for students to broaden their mind and take a glimpse of what their future could look like. It is very beneficial in allowing you to become acquainted with the work environment. For the future, this is the best thing you could do for yourself in order to prepare yourself for what is to come.
