Taking the Crown

Recap on the Battle for the Crown Swim Meet and the Team’s Achievement
Taking+the+Crown

For the season opener, the Varsity Swim team traveled to San Antonio on November 11th to compete in the Battle for the Crown. The Battle for the Crown is a swim meet that specifically recognizes seniors, their accomplishments, and their last-first-meet. At this meet, many swimmers achieved personal bests and placed very well.

Senior Graham Rosenwald placed 2nd in 100 Freestyle and 3rd in 50 Freestyle.

Senior Lauren DenBraber placed 3rd in 500 Freestyle and 4th in 200 Freestyle.
Lauren said, “I’m glad that I had a great start to the swim season and I’m excited to see how the team does this season!”

Sophomore Peyton Whitmarsh placed 2nd in 50 Freestyle and 100 Breaststroke.
Peyton said, “It was awesome to be able to get good times and know that I can still improve throughout the season.”

Sophomore Mitchell Lunsford placed 3rd in the 100 Backstroke.
Mitchell said, “I feel accomplished as a sophomore to be able to place so high in the meet.”

The boy’s relay of Mitchell Lunsford, Aidan Petrof, Walter Dommers, and Graham Rosenwald placed 4th in the 200 Medley relay and 3rd in the 200 Freestyle relay.

The girl’s relay of Lauren DenBraber, Ella Henrie, Rachel DenBraber, and Peyton Whitmarsh placed 2nd in the 200 Freestyle relay.

Starting the season off strong, the team is excited for the future. The next meet is December 9, the 16th Annual Christmas Classic. Congratulations to all the swimmers who placed and achieved personal bests.
