Girls Soccer Wrap-Up

Girls+Soccer+Wrap-Up

The girls soccer team finished their season in a playoff game against JPII. Each player worked hard through practices, games, on the field, and off the field. Seniors Emma Skeans, Carlye Nesseth, and Allie Shaw all took care of it in the classroom as well with being rewarded Academic All State. Senior and Goalie Bella Perron, who got first team all district said, “I’m going to miss the home games and having all my friends come out to watch me play. Prestonwood soccer helped me learn to separate my emotions from the game and focus on how I can help the team in that moment.”

There were some amazing memories shared with this team as well. Junior Bella Erwin said her favorite memory from soccer was “Senior night against All Saints when Bella Perron did a bicycle kick and scored a goal within the last minute of the game. It was posted all over social media and the fans went crazy.”

While traveling to and from their games, the girls soccer team would listen to music with Coach Fabian Chong. They said they enjoyed getting to bond together and have a good time wherever they went. Junior Brooklyn Brothers said, “My overall favorite memory was when we tied JPII, a team that we haven’t truly competed with in years. The work we put into that game and the joy of being able to tie with them was unforgettable and so rewarding.” JPII ended up winning state, but overall this year was a year of big accomplishments for girls soccer.

Junior Micah Tuthill said, “My coaches continued to push me throughout the season to finish strong. They taught me life lessons, like pushing even on the cold and rainy days.”

There were eight seniors this year on the team all going their separate ways for college. They will be greatly missed by the underclassmen, but they will fill their new roles well, serving Christ on their way. Sophomore Zoe Emeka said, “I am going to miss what the seniors taught me so much but I am looking forward to stepping into my role next year and hopefully be a starting position. The team is my squad and I don’t know what I would do without them welcoming me into Prestonwood this year.”
