Were you a PCA student in kindergarten? If you were, you probably participated in the Build-A-Bear tradition.

At the beginning of kindergarten, Build-A-Bear comes to the Lower School to give the kindergarten students an experience they will never forget.

“I liked rubbing the teddy bear’s heart to make it have a warm heart.” said Kindergarten student William McQueen.

Before Covid the kindergarten students and their teachers went to the Build-A-Bear store at Stone Briar Mall.

“I liked that the teenagers came and took pictures of us with our bears.” Kindergarten student Will Bagget said.

Having Build-A-Bear come to the school instead of going there makes it easier and more special. Each class got to stay together with their teacher making it easier to gather everyone for lunch.

Kindergarten student Alvin Gao said, “I liked that we had a teddy bear picnic on the floor for lunch.”

One of the most popular parts about Build-A-Bear is getting to put the heart inside your bear and then brush its fur.

“I liked brushing his fur with a brush and then we held his heart up in the air.” said Kindergarten student Tucker Monk.

A teddy bear looks so simple but to a kindergartener it is so special getting to do it with your classmates and teacher and making memories that will last a lifetime.

“I liked the promise that I will always be my teddy bear’s best friend.” said Kindergarten student Nora Dooley.

The kindergarten Build-A-Bear experience is definitely a memorable experience not just for the students and teachers, but for the parents who get to hear their kids talking about how much fun they had.
