As the countdown to Minimester ticks down, another PCA tradition nears. World Impact Day is a day where we celebrate all the blessings God has given us, and make a promise to share those blessings with the world.
On World Impact Day, the 6th grade Honor Guard carries the flags of all the countries that we are reaching out to through Minimester. They also bring out the black flag, which represents the countries that we minister to that can’t be named due to safety reasons for the persecuted Christians in that country.
World Impact Day is a tradition that the student body looks forward to every year.Junior Lauren DenBraber’s favorite part is seeing all the flags brought in and knowing that PCA is making an impact in all those countries. To Lauren, World Impact Day signifies learning about all of the countries that PCA is ministering into.
“I most look forward to learning about where the Minimester trips are going and the missions of each,” says Lauren.
Another integral part of World Impact Day is the tradition of eating only a portion of rice and beans in solidarity with those around the world who don’t have access to other foods. For younger PCA students who are used to several options for lunch every day and multiple servings, this can sometimes feel like a big sacrifice, or a punishment. But students who have gone on Minimester can appreciate this tradition fully since they have seen firsthand that there are so many people who don’t have much.
World Impact Day represents how PCA comes together to spread the good news across the world. Whether you’re in Pre-K or 12th grade, you can do something to contribute to the PCA mission. World Impact Day is on February 22, so be sure to mark your calendars, and we’ll see you there.
