PCA offers many unique and rigorous extracurricular activities. One of these extracurriculars is the Science Olympiad team, led by Team Coach Wendy Blaine. Science Olympiad is a unique program where students can do multiple types of sciences. Science Olympiad has over 6,000 participating teams, making it a competitive program.

Our Lions are working hard to bring home the title of state champs this year. Although, Science Olympiad takes work, the students think it’s worth it to experience different types of science!

“I like Science Olympiad because I think it’s a great experience to explore different science opportunities.” said Junior Lauren DenBraber, who competes in many testing events such as Anatomy and Physiology, Cell Biology, and Disease Detectives.

Our lions have participated in multiple activities to prepare for the upcoming state competition, and are working hard solving practice problems to prepare for state. Team members are building their devices and preparing their notes for the state competition, which has been a dream for many team members throughout the season.

Senior Isaac Mei, who is a member of the team competing at State this month, is very excited to go to state. Isaac enjoys building stuff and competing with his friends, and has consistently placed in Detector Building at many of the team’s invitationals.

“I feel great about making it to state, I don’t think any of us expected it.” said Isaac.

PCA’s Science Olympiad team got 3rd overall at their UT Austin Regional in February, making them eligible to go on to State. If our team wins State they will then go to the national competition.
