Musical Opening Weekend

As time for rehearsal comes to a close, the actors have a lot of feelings going into opening night.
Musical+Opening+Weekend

The spring semester is in full swing and, as the year comes to a close, the spring musical approaches! This year the theater department will perform A White Christmas. Based on the classic 1954 film, it is sure to wow audiences with its heartfelt holiday tale set against the grim backdrop of the Second World War.

Opening Christmas Eve, 1944, a former Broadway star, Captain Bob Wallace, and another performer, Private Phil Davis, put on a show for the 151st division. After enduring a traumatizing experience together, the two become a duo and continue on performing after the war. The two come into contact with two sisters, Betty and Judy, and the play centers around the group’s intertwining lives and relationships as time goes on. Nostalgic, romantic, war-torn, and musically beautiful, the story has something for everyone!

So, with opening night just a few weeks out, how is the cast holding up and what can we expect?

Sophomore Alli Pasant, playing the character of Martha Watson, said, “Honestly, we are all a little nervous but I think there’s more excitement than fear. We’ve worked on this show for so long and run it so many times, I feel really prepared.”

Though some would think so much repetition would tire out the show and overwork the cast, this has not been the case. Alli said, “Pretty much all of us had seen the movie or at least knew the plot of it. When we found out what we were doing we were so excited and, honestly, it hasn’t gotten old yet.”

Mark your calendars for opening night April 3! And if you can’t make it then, don’t worry! The cast will be performing 5 shows in total, and, from what we know about them, each one will just be better than the last! So, don’t miss out on the amazing opportunity to experience A White Christmas right here at Prestonwood.
