Float Building: Process to Parade

Student Government Explains the Float Building Process
    Float+Building%3A+Process+to+Parade

The float building process for the homecoming parade is one of the best traditions that PCA has to offer! The Student Government Association and the student body have worked non-stop to produce an amazing homecoming parade.

There is an extensive amount of planning that goes into building the float. Freshman through Senior designate one day each weekend to work on their floats. Float building was a great way to get together with your friends and contribute to a big outcome, and it is evident that the SGA representatives worked extremely hard to make sure people had a fun time while working on their class floats.

Senior Evan Jefferson says, “Since I am head of Public Relations, it is my job to get people to come in outside of school to help with the float, which is always challenging.”

Each grade has a different theme for their floats. Sophomore Sophie Brashear said, “Our theme is the rainforest, and we chose it because we all think that the rainforest is the most fun to decorate and be creative with.” Being creative with the float themes is the most fun part about the entire experience!

Although float building is a fun thing to do, it can be beneficial to build leadership skills. Freshman Blake Wilson said, “I have seen my leadership role in SGA be put into action by having to coordinate the times and places for float building, and having to come up with ideas for the float/things for people to do.”

Overall, float building in preparation for the homecoming parade is a great way to get together with your friends, and be a part of the parade yourself. Contributing to your class’ float is a way to have school spirit. Will we see you at float building next year?
