Homecoming Court is a way to honor those whose character reflects integrity and Christ-like qualities. Students of each class vote on three girls and three boys that they feel capture the true meaning of Christ-like. Each year, the court plays a major role in the parade, pep rally, and halftime of the football game. The student body voted on these people for each class:
Freshmen: Hayden Fox, Hannah Miller, Emma White, Ross Crawford, Blake Dunham, Blake Wilson
Sophomores: Ava Allen, Sophie Brashear, Megan Dean, Chandler McGaha, Nami Adenle, Numi Adenle, Francis Chukwudebelu, Campbell Panetti
Juniors: Peyton Ferrell, Lauren Lineberger, Tate O’Neal, Madelyn Prewitt, John Acker, Ben Bower, Austin McLeod, Colson Reeves
Seniors: Hailey Lineberger, Alice Martin, Belle Senkel, Evan Jefferson, Luke McGary, Maguire Martin
The highlight of the pep rally, coordinated by the Student Government, is the court’s one to two minute dances. Each grade will choose a song to create a fun dance to perform to the filled stands. Another highlight of the day is every member of the court gets to ride in a luxury convertible during the parade.
Junior Colson Reeves, who is returning to the court for the third year in a row, said, “In the parade, I am most excited to ride in the convertible and see all of my fellow classmates.”
After a school day filled with a lot of events, the fun continues at night during the football game. This year, the Lions take on the Trinity Christian Academy, a long time school rival. At halftime of the game, all the members of the court will be specially honored. That night, Prestonwood will continue the tradition of crowning the queen and king. Alumni Ella Moore and Trace Norfleet, the reigning queen and king, will join us for the night to proclaim the queen and king for the class of 2023. This night is especially memorable for the senior class.
Senior Belle Senkel gave her thoughts on this year saying, “This is the last ride for the senior class and I have the privilege to be a role model for my school.”
Homecoming is a time where the school and alumni can come together to celebrate. The homecoming court plays a big role the whole weekend, drawing in excitement for all who join to participate.
