PCA is full of all types of people, and prides itself on being diverse. With all this diversity comes diverse talents and hobbies.
Vincent Shull, Junior, has been skateboarding for about a year. His skateboard Gertrude has helped teach him that when you fall, you have to get back up. His favorite thing about skateboarding is that you can skateboard and listen to music, because that combines two of his favorite things in life.
“Skateboarding is my mental escape from everything going on in life,” says Vincent.
Jadyn Moses, Sophomore, loves drawing cartoons. She’s been drawing for about five years now, and loves to draw people. She says the most valuable thing she’s learned from drawing cartoons is don’t compare yourself to others because not everyone is on the same level.
“I like that I get to create my own stories,” says Jadyn.
Junior John David Seiver, also known as JD, loves filming and directing short films. After four years of directing and filming, JD has filmed 35 short films and directed 2 others. JD got into filmmaking to capture the beauty of life and help people appreciate all the beauty around them. His favorite type of films to make are films with fun and chaotic storylines filled with heart.
“Filmmaking is a beautiful art form that allows people to express themselves while telling a story, and I see filmmaking as my way of conveying stories,” says JD.
Not only do Upper School students have interesting hobbies, Upper School teachers also have interesting hobbies you may or may not know about. Mr. Joshua Polite, Upper School Technology teacher, has been writing scripts for 10 years. He loves writing thrillers and getting people thinking one thing then switching it up. He loves that he can control everything in the stories he writes, and make things happen the way he wants them to.
“I started writing scripts because I wanted to express myself and I felt like I had an interesting point of view,” says Mr. Polite.
No matter your talent, PCA appreciates all the unique personalities that come with the student body.
