The Prestonwood Lions took on the Parish Panthers at home last friday night. This was the last time we got to see some of our seniors step foot on the lions home turf. And for the first time in five years, I can say that the Lions have defeated the Panthers with a score of fifty two to forty nine.
Some of the biggest plays in this game was an Enzo Bingham’s game sealing interception, LJ Taylor’s game winning touchdown, and a crucial sack made by Eddie Brownstien. This has been a storied rivalry over the years and this matchup truly never disappoints.
Many juniors really put their blood, sweat, and tears into this game due to the love they have for their senior brothers. For example, standout athlete Trent Clarkson said that, “It means a lot because it is the last time that our seniors are playing at home and we have to ball out for them.” Our lions came into this matchup with more confidence even though it would be a difficult task. Star quarterback Luke Glass predicted that him and his team would come out on top with a final score of thirty eight to thirty five.
This massive win has boosted the Lions morale and may be the boost they need to cap off an unbelievable season and go for a district championship and a state championship. When standout defensive lineman Eddie Brownstien was asked about how this would boost the team morale, he had to say that, “Parish has been our rivals for years, you know our seniors have never smelt victory against parish, so this year, we are going to get a taste of that victory, overall it will boost our morale and show to everyone that we have what it takes to win state. This win would cement us as the best in TAPPS.
Will our lions continue this monster run ending the season and into the playoffs? Well, my answer is a clear yes. With the talent we have on this team, the great coaching staff, and the best fans in the state, the sky’s the limit for this team.
