Every year, the PCA choir auditions for TPSMEA All-Region and All-State choir competitions. Every student across the state receives the same piece of music to study and perform for auditions.
When asked the question, “What is your favorite part of all-region and all-state?” Senior Ashlyn Hardy said, “I love getting to learn more about music and be around talented people who share the same interests as me.”
Senior Grace Hennington said, “My favorite part of All-State Choir was getting to spend more time with our Fine Arts Department, as well as getting to work under the leadership of a professional clinician.”
The Texas Private School Music Education Association (TPSMEA) judges each audition and the top ten applicants will be entered into the competition for All-state. This choir event is very competitive, hosting the best singers from every private school in the region and the state. Each year PCA Upper School choir brings about twelve people to the all-region.
Come see all of the students’ hard work and dedication, All-region choir performance is on January 11, 2025, and the All-state choir performance is on March 7, 2024.
In summary, the PCA choir’s participation in the TPSMEA All-Region and All-State competitions not only highlights the talent and dedication of its members, but also fosters a strong sense of community and growth. As Ashlyn Hardy and Grace Hennington have shared, the experience goes beyond competition; it’s about learning, collaboration, and the joy of making music together. With the upcoming performances on January 11, 2025, for All-Region and March 7, 2024, for All-State, the choir members are eager to showcase their hard work and passion. These events serve as a testament to their commitment to excellence in the arts and their shared love for music.
