Prestonwood Lower School students have the opportunity to engage in community service by gathering donations for various ministries throughout the year. From collecting cans for the Food Bank to gathering diapers for the Pregnancy Center, Prestonwood takes great pride in seeing young learners actively participate in serving others and addressing community needs. The fourth graders have the opportunity, as head of the Lower School, to collect these donations.
Fourth Grader Lucas D’Annunzio said, “My favorite part of Manna Monday is to get donations that go to the health center.” It’s very cool to see kids learn the value of helping those in need. They are willing to serve others which is a big part of PCA values.
Fourth Grader Rhett Bailey said, “I like trying to get people to donate as they come into school.” The fourth graders made a small competition on who could get the most donations. This helps engage the students and have something else to do while serving.
Fourth Grader Stone Cates said, “My favorite part is holding the box as my friends are getting out of their cars at morning carpool.” The joy that comes out of serving others alongside your friends creates memories that last a lifetime. Serving should be a joy and a privilege that all PCA students should have.
Fourth Grader Levi Williams said, “I like getting the food and clothes for the donations.” It’s amazing to see the hope these students have to share what they have with others. They can make small sacrifices now that can have big impacts on not just themselves but the people they are helping.
The dedication and enthusiasm of Prestonwood Lower School’s fourth graders in their community service efforts embody the heart of PCA’s values. Through their participation in events like Manna Monday, these young students are not only meeting immediate needs but also learning the impacts of their contributions. Their experiences show how serving others can be both a rewarding and joyful experience. As these students continue to engage in acts of kindness and generosity, they are laying the groundwork for a lifelong commitment to making a positive difference in the world around them.
