For our little 3rd graders here at PCA, it is always nice to catch a break once in a while from normal school classes, and also be involved in other educational, creative activities. This is why they were going on their annual field trip to the Heard Natural Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary. Their field trip took place on September 12th, 2024. It gives the kids an opportunity to visit the wildlife and learn more about the different wildlife animals that God has created uniquely for a specific purpose.
The 3rd-grade teachers think this field trip is a wonderful opportunity to do something creative with the children while also learning about the biblical aspects of God’s creation.
Mrs. Bynum, a third-grade teacher, says, “I like there is a variety of activities for the kids to do; they get to interact with different people, learn about all the different vertebrates that we study, and the live exhibit that teaches the kids about characteristics. Not only are there hands-on activities for the kids, but they get to tour the whole museum and learn more about our environment.”
This trip also allows the 3rd graders to touch some of the animals, which is extremely helpful in activating more than one of the five senses of learning, and it is a fun experience overall.
Cienna, a student from Mrs. Cardwell’s third-grade class says, “I think it’s going to be exciting, and we are going to have lots of fun.”
Windsor, another student from Mrs. Cardwell’s third-grade class says, “I think it’s going to be fun because my brother liked it when he went.”
Overall, this field trip is an exciting time for the students, and how thoughtful it is for PCA to put this trip together specifically for the third graders since they are studying vertebrates in one of their science units.
