ATTENTION! ATTENTION! Come out to the Middle School Library for the annual middle school book fair. This year the fair will be themed the “Star Spangled Book Fair.” Make sure to bring any family members that served in the military.
This year the Middle School library wants to promote patriotism throughout the entire school. The book fair will also be displaying a military collection including artifacts from WWII. Days for the fair include: September 9th – 5th graders, September 10th – 6th graders, September 11th – 7th graders, September 12th – 8th graders, and September 13th – open to all.
The theme of the book fair includes praising our veterans. The goal of book fairs is to get students back into reading. Middle School Librarian, Mrs. Cathy Madden said, “I want to get kids excited to read about books outside of school.” She believes that students will read more books if they choose to read these books, rather than in school. She hopes that this book fair will help restore this hobby of reading.
Some of the most popular books to purchase in this year’s Middle School’s book fair are books from the I Survived series by Lauren Tarshis. Fifth grader Diane Cooksey said, “I cannot wait to read a book from the I Survived series, The Titanic.” Looks like the hot book series in this year’s book fair is the I Survived series.
Sixth Grade student Grant Killough said, “All of the history themed I Survived books look the most interesting.” It seems as as if this series is very popular.
Many people enjoy not just the books, but also the small gadgets you can purchase along with the books.
Seventh Grade student, Donald Sanders, said “I enjoy reading secret diaries about detectives, the mysterious aspect really intrigues me. I also really like the small toys the book fair offers.”
The yearly book fair encourages all students to purchase these books to not only support our library, but to allow students to enjoy the books they read. The book fair is definitely not an event to miss. Make sure to come and support your middle school library. All book fair profits will add new books to the library and help fund different projects around the school.
