The PCA Upper School welcomed new staff this year. Mr. Randy Felder joined the History department teaching AP US Government and Economics as well as college prep World History, he has a long background in teaching for the past 10 years.
“My sister, Speech Teacher Mrs. Kris Compton encouraged me to apply here at Prestonwood. I’m a bi-vocational teacher, I work as a pastor in East Texas and now PCA as well,” said Mr. Felder.
He is a pastor in a town called Greenville near Rockwall, TX and is now also a teacher here at PCA. “I am a graduate of Wheaton college and Dallas Theological seminary.” said Mr. Felder.
While at the Dallas Theological Seminary Mr. Felder learned ministry and took courses expanding his knowledge about the Old testament, New Testaments, and Biblical Languages.
While on a mission trip in Ukraine as a part of a Vanguard, Mr. Felder said, “I met my wife as a missionary in Ukraine and she didn’t speak English at the time and i didnt speak russian. A motivational speech I like to give to my students is that I became the best Russian student in that university, not because I was the smartest but because I was the most motivated.”
He tells his students this because he believes that when one has a motivation they will will work twice as hard.During his mission trips Mr. Felder and his group of missionaries developed language learning schools so that future missionaries would be able to learn the language and then go on to assist the churches in Ukraine.
Mr. Felder said, “The thing that was most interesting to me (about PCA) were the minimesters, I come from a mission family so I would really love to go to some different places and do mission work or projects.”
Mr. Felder is excited to meet all of the new people in the school. Make sure to stop by to greet him, his knowledge is exquisite.
