As the year is closing there are a lot of things coming up for Fine Arts programs. Many concluding projects are taking place in art, band, and choir. One thing several art students are participating in is the FPS Art Competition, which started just this year. Students get to pick one topic studied in FPS from this year and creatively make it into a piece of art.
Sophomore Kayla Yap said, “I liked being able to incorporate my art skills into FPS.” Kayla made her art on the topic of urbanization and titled it “Earth at the hands of man.”
As for the band, they are preparing to play a concert at the Chili cook-off concert on Thursday, March 21. Families and students can apply for the contest and bring in their chili for the judges to try.
Sophomore Chaeah Yoon said, “The band is playing some exciting music for the audience so that they can enjoy the cook-off more.”
In choir, they are preparing for the Spring Sing. This is where all the grades sing in a concert, ranging from Lower School to High School. It is a great time to see the progression of talent and maturity as grades and age increase. The concert can be quite long since so many students are performing.
Sophomore Ayden Whorton said, “Since Upper School performs last, we get to hear all the grades below perform. It is very interesting to see all the talent in our school.”
Art, band, and choir are all staying focused in the fourth quarter as many major events are happening to conclude the year in a successful way. Whether its people making art, chili, or music, the talent of the students show vividly.
