To begin this year, fifth grade students explore traditions, culture, and facts about the Earliest Americans. To represent their knowledge, students were given freedom to choose what project they wanted to do. Some examples of projects are a slideshow, baking food, making a 3-D model of something, or creating a painting.
Fifth Grade student Clara Cross said, “I made cornmeal cookies to present the information we know and display the traditions of the Early Americans.”
Students also had the choice of what tribe or aspect they wanted to present about. Some may choose to display the culture while others may want to show their architecture.
Fifth Grade student Skylar Smith said, “I made a presentation about the Navajos and what their culture was like.”
Students excitedly listen to each other’s presentations while enjoying treats and authentic food, immersing themselves in the culture.
Fifth Grade student JD Klinge said, “I made traditional soup and created a slideshow with pictures to show what the Indian tribes used to do.”
For young fifth grade students, this is a great way for them to learn and see all their classmates’ projects. With a wide display of projects, students can see the information they learned from all sorts of perspectives.
