Maia Brown

What do you teach at PCA?

AP Physics C, AP Physics 1, AP Chemistry, Honors Engineering Physics

How many years have you been teaching at PCA?

This is my 19th year at PCA.

How has teaching impacted your life?

Specifically at PCA, teaching gives me incredible satisfaction as I seek to prepare students to be the best in the natural sciences, and to do so in a way that honors Christ and demonstrates hope and purpose where there is a great dearth of both.

Where did you go to college?

University of Texas at Austin

What was your major?

Zoology

What type of music do you listen to?

Anything but country, but mostly 80s classic rock and worship music

Kids?

Our son, Corey, graduated from PCA in 2017 and University of Arkansas in 2021 and is in physical therapy school at Texas Tech. Our daughter, Brooke, graduated from PCA in 2020 and attends Ouachita Baptist University in Arkansas.

*My wife of 27 years, Judy, is the librarian at the North Campus in Prosper.

Who is your greatest inspiration?

My greatest inspirations are my dad and Steven Dement, who was a Bible study teacher and mentor to me in high school. Both of them love Jesus and serve people unreservedly.

What is on your bucket list?

Packers’ game at Lambeau (ideally a playoff game)

Dream car?

1974 Corvette Stingray (convertible)

What is your favorite memory at PCA?

My kids’ graduations and trips to Costa Rica with the science department over the years.
