Meet Noelle Piatas

LionNationOnline talks with one of Varsity Volleyball’s rising stars, Junior Noelle Piatas.


Age you started this sport?

I started at eight-years-old.

How many hours a week do you practice?

I practice 12 hours a week.

What position do you play, and why?

I play outside hitter, because it enables me to play back row too, and I am the perfect height for it!

Name one thing you are working to improve right now?

I’m working on getting my vertical higher.

Pre-game ritual?

The team gets hype and we blast music in the locker room.

What’s something you need to do for a game?

I wear a ponytail holder on my left thumb.

How would your teammates describe you?

They would describe me as loud and determined!

Who is your role model, and why?

My mom, because she supports me in everything I do and encourages me to be the best I can be.

What is the hardest thing about Volleyball?

All the practice and time you have to put in.

Name something that stresses you out, and why?

A bunch of homework, because sometimes I feel like I don’t have enough time. 

Name something you’re a pro at?

Making grilled cheese.

Name a recent accomplishment you are proud of, and why?

Committing to play volleyball for the University of Miami, because it has been my dream since I was eight to play college volleyball.

Before I die, I want to ________, and why?

Skydive, because the adrenaline rush would be so amazing.

Name one thing about yourself that most people don’t know?

My favorite thing to do is to go to concerts.
