As the semester continues, the halls are buzzing with anticipation for Minimester. This annual tradition sees students trading their textbooks for passports, heading out to serve communities across the globe while experiencing new cultures. From tropical islands to European capitals, the Lions are ready to make an impact.
For some seniors, the trip offers a mix of breathtaking scenery and logistical challenges. Senior Marlie Makai is preparing for a trip to the Caribbean that promises to be memorable for multiple reasons. “I am excited to get to serve in the Bahamas. It is going to be an experience and the Bahamas are beautiful,” Makai said.
However, the trip will require some adjustment to close quarters. “I am a little worried about staying in a single cabin with 17 girls and apparently we have limited water,” she admitted, highlighting the sacrificial nature of the service week.
Across the Atlantic, other students are embarking on trips that blend ministry with history. Preston Nguyen is headed to Europe for a unique educational and spiritual experience. “I’m going to Italy for Minimester. It counts as half a mission credit so we are still serving by doing VBS for kids, but it is also a cultural and art trip,” Nguyen explained.
The itinerary promises to be a whirlwind tour of some of the world’s most famous sites. “We get to visit Rome and see the Colosseum and visiting Florence, and hopefully Milan,” Nguyen added.
Whether they are navigating limited resources in the Bahamas or teaching Vacation Bible School in the shadow of the Colosseum, PCA students are eager to serve and learn. As departure day approaches, the school community prays for safe travels and open hearts. Safe travels, Lions!
