Each year, the Upper School pom girls have the opportunity to work alongside the Lower School girls in an activity called pommies! Each Thursday after school throughout the entirety of the academic year, the girls come together to learn dances, develop friendships, and have fun! Over the course of the lessons, the younger girls learn various dances to ultimately perform at a football game and a basketball game.
Second grader, Elsie Jordan said, “my favorite part of pommies is learning the dance, well actually everything is fun.”
The Lower School pommies participants each have formed a special bond as they dance through each week together. The younger girls have even become friends with the Upper School girls!
“Reagan is my friend. Whenever I feel sad, she makes me feel better, and she also hugs me,” said Second grader, Elsie Jordan.
Our Upper School pom girls are each assigned younger girls, “we have something called family groups, and I get to be assigned to first graders!” said Freshman Beka Reyes.
Though the work is hard, the older girls do a wonderful job at making it a memorable experience. Thursdays for pommies consist of stations with leaps, turns, and endless fun! Female students from the grades of first to fourth grade have the opportunity to grow in skill and confidence as they are encouraged to develop their God-given gifts while cultivating a genuine love for dance.
