Prestonwood Baptist Church hosted their 20th annual Biblical Worldview Conference. Biblical worldview integration is a cornerstone of Prestonwood Christian Academy and BWC is a part of the kingdom education. Speakers from all around the world came to talk about the relevant topics of the world and in the Christian community. Famous speakers such as J. Warner Wallace, Erik Stakelbeck, and Drew Worsham were highly anticipated. Freshman Counselor Erin Willams said, “BWC is a great opportunity for students and faculty to get exposed to influential speakers who are educated in the important topics in the Christian community.” Topics discussed such as new age, Israel, and doubt were popular among students.
Students have two school days allocated to hearing multiple speakers and to worship with hundreds of other students and teachers. Senior Rhegan Staerman said, “My favorite speaker was J. Warner Wallace; I knew him previously from his book “A Cold Case for Christ” and was engaged throughout his entire presentation.” While multiple hours were spent and several pages filled with notes there were so many valuable sermons that are crucial in the life of impressionable youth.
The insight of influential speakers equips students on how to live out their life through a biblical lens. Given a BWC packet attendees received guided notes to help them stay engaged with the speakers. Senior Colt Hillhouse said, “This year I was more engaged; the speakers were more interactive and because of the fast pace it was easy to stay on track.” Students gained a load of biblical knowledge that will prepare them for once they walk that stage and encounter the world. Living in a world of chaos it is vital for students to have the tools to combat worldly forces.
