Friday night lights were shining as the Prestonwood Christian Academy Lions took on Parish Episcopal in a close game that ended in a tough 38-35 loss. Both teams played hard and kept fans cheering until the very end. The game came down to the final seconds with Parish kicking a game-winning field goal to seal the victory. Earlier in the night, a huge goal-line stop by the Parish defense at the end of the first half was a crucial play to end the half.
Even with the loss, the Lions demonstrated fight and teamwork throughout the night.
Junior safety Landan Hollins said, “The thing we will do better in weeks to come in hopes of coming out on top of these games, is to watch more film to know as much as you can about our opponent, and communicate and be on the same page, whether it’s offense or defense, and have discipline on and off the field.”
Junior linebacker Job Palmer said, “The things we are doing best right now to keep these games close are communicating and eliminating mental errors.”
Junior receiver Tyler Shaw said, “The thing we could have done differently to change the outcome would have been to kick more field goals down the stretch.”
With the loss, the Lions move to 3-4 overall and 3-2 in district play, sitting third in their district. They’ll look to bounce back next Friday at home against Trinity Christian, ready to fix mistakes entering the postseason.
