March Madness is one of the most exciting times of the year because the chase for a national championship begins. March Madness is a 64 team tournament to crown the national champion of college basketball. The star players of this year’s March Madness tournament are Cooper Flagg, Walter Clayton Jr., VJ Edgecomb and Johni Broome. The favorites this year are Duke, Florida, Auburn, Tennessee and Houston. Duke, led by Cooper Flagg, is who junior Jackson Graves thinks will be taking home the gold. While fellow junior Blake Wilson believes that Florida and Johni Broome will defeat Duke in the national championship and secure the win.
On the women’s side of March Madness, the favorites are Texas, South Carolina, TCU, and USC. The star players of this tournament are Haley Van Lithe, JuJu Watkins, Paige Bueckers, and Madison Booker. Junior Blake Wilson believes that the University of Texas will take home the crown, along with his fellow junior Jackson Graves. My personal opinion is that the TCU horned frogs will take home the crown, as there is a chance that TCU faces off against Texas in the elite eight.
This will be the 86th March Madness tournament, which started in 1939. Over the years, teams such as Duke, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Memphis have dominated the men’s basketball world. The women’s tournament began in 1982, with UConn dominating the competition with a whopping eleven national championships. They are followed by Tennessee, South Carolina, and Stanford.
March Madness is a very exciting time whether you watch the explosive dunks and elite handles on the men’s side of March Madness, or you are watching the elite shooting and fundamentals of the women’s side of the tournament.
