Prestonwood Christian Dominates Legacy Christian
The Prestonwood Lions Boys Tennis dominated on Thursday, February 6, against Legacy Christian. They are a newer program making it an easy feat for the lions. We won all 6 matches in convincing fashion….not dropping a set. We worked on some things we focused on in practice….one of them poaching for easy volleys as well as driving short shots and coming in behind them. And in singles Graham, Blake, and Mason all played very steady tennis, not making foolish errors killing the ball…..but remaining steady until the right time. Connor and Nicholas played a strong doubles match, as did Aiden/Jason and Aidan/Jackson.
Legacy has requested a rematch this Thursday hoping it doesn’t get rained out. The girls unfortunately didn’t have their best match going 0-6 in both singles and doubles. Their new coach Mr. Davis is now in charge of the girls team and has been training them the past weeks. Hopefully they’ll be able to make a comeback in their second chance this Thursday. Please come out and support if you can since the crowd is small most of the time. Shoutout to Blake Wilson, Blake Wade, and Luke Seiver for coming out and cheering on the Lions this past week.
Observations from the coach-
“ Everyone looked fit and was moving well, and from what I could tell serving wasn’t a real issue. Some inconsistency at times, but nothing unexpected.”
“We still need to stop rushing our serves. I see players miss a first serve, and they’re hitting their second serve before they can take a breath. – Take your time….this is the one shot you have complete control over.”
“And stick to the same routine every time….deep breath, feet set, look at the spot you’re aiming for….and proceed.”
“And if you’re consistently missing your first serve, take something off of it…at least for the time being. And don’t ever get pumped about an ace if you just double faulted the point before. – Be consistent.”
