Last month, on December 2nd, the PCA Lions 8th Grade Middle School Basketball Team delivered a thrilling victory over McKinney Christian in a game filled with high-energy plays and fierce competition. The final score was 63–40, but the story of the game became very close at the end.
From the opening tip-off, it was clear this was going to be a close game. The Lions came out aggressive, setting the tone early, while McKinney Christian wasn’t far behind, answering with fast breaks and some nice shots. The first half saw PCA with a good lead, but the second half was a lot closer.
However, the Lions’ defense proved to be the difference-maker. With tight 4 – 1 coverage and a strong half court press, PCA was able to disrupt McKinney Christian’s rhythm. Players like Chance Kidd showcased their skills, hustling for steals, grabbing rebounds, and finishing fast breaks to keep the pressure on. Another notable player Zachary Petrof said, “I did my best to block and play the best defense I can for our team.”
As the game moved into the second half, McKinney began to come back. Behind strong performances from their top scorers, PCA built a double-digit lead that McKinney Christian could not overcome. With a solid finish from PCA, the Lions finished off the game with an impressive 63–40 win.
“Our entire team helped us,” said Coach Taylor. “We were able to play all of our players with everyone contributing.”
The Lions look to carry this mindset into their next game, as they continue their goal for an undefeated record this season. The fans and parents of the team are excited to see how the team builds on this victory and what they can achieve in the upcoming games.
