Science Olympiad Invitational Tournaments provide an opportunity for Science Olympiad teams to engage in competitions that do not affect their regional or state standings or progress. However, these tournaments are frequently utilized as tryouts for team members and as a way for teams to prepare for upcoming regional, state, or national events. Numerous campuses and schools across the nation organize these competitions, allowing teams to refine their devices and familiarize themselves with the complexity of tests and labs. PCA students were asked to answer their favorite events and what they are doing to study for it.
Junior Markus Hang said, “I am most excited for optics, and I’ll study by adding to my binder and perfecting the laser event.”
Junior Libby Araman said, “I’m most excited for bungee drop because I enjoy figuring out the precise length to drop the weight from. I’m going to practice different weighted bottles from different heights.”
Junior Colette Ko said, “I’m really excited about micromissions, and I’m studying by looking up practice questions to study on the Science Olympiad Website.”
In conclusion, Science Olympiad Invitational Tournaments provide a valuable opportunity for students to perfect their skills, experiment with different strategies, and prepare for the competitive challenges ahead. Whether it’s refining a laser event in optics, experimenting with precise measurements in bungee drop, or solving intricate problems in micromissions, each student is embracing the chance to push their knowledge and abilities further. Through focused practice and thoughtful preparation, these PCA students are setting themselves up for success, not only in the invitational tournaments but also in the upcoming regional, state, and national competitions.
