Baseball season finally begins on Saturday as the Lions begin their season with a scrimmage against Liberty Christian away at 1:00. Our Lions are very passionate for their game and confident in winning their first season game.
Sophomore Preston Smith said, “I feel like we are well prepared for the season, we’re looking to start off the year on the right track.”
After an undefeated fall ball season, the Lions look to continue their success during the spring. This year, the team is stronger then ever, the brotherhood of the players are getting ready to take down another state tournament.
Junior Cruz Banuelas said. “This year, the team as a whole set our goal to become the first team in Prestonwood baseball history to go 37-0, we have to win every game of the season from opening night all the way to the state championship.”
Preparation, however, during the month of January has kept the boys on their toes. They are committed, from lifts every day to perfect meal prep before the games. However, multiple practices have been rescheduled or canceled due to inclement weather.
Junior Harrison Hillard said, “It’s an inconvenience losing so much practice time because of the weather, despite that, it’s nothing we can’t overcome as a team and I’m excited to see how Saturday goes against Liberty.”
These Lions are committed to making history for the school. Make sure to tune into the games, they are something you cannot miss!
