Texas Stomp

A night of fun, food, and line dancing!
Texas+Stomp

Prestonwood carries on a Spring semester tradition that allows all students to find joy throughout a dull time of the year. The night consists of all students going to the basketball games then everyone heads up to the church for a night of line dancing, food, and fun!

There are many different reasons why students love this event.

Junior Mikala Young said, “I love bringing out my Texas side. It is so fun pulling out denim and cowboy boots from my closet for a night of line dancing and fun times with friends.”

The event shows the Texas side of the student body and how they encompass their country style. Another reason for this tradition being a favorite is that one of Upper School student’s favorite teachers comes back to host it, Mr. Caleb Cunningham. It is so fun for him to return for the night to lead students in line dances and pick up the energy in the room.

One of the biggest questions students have when attending Texas Stomp is what they should wear.

Junior Lauren Descombaz gives advice on this, “Students should wear their boots, hats, and denim, and try to go as cowboy or cowgirl as possible.”

The more students are willing to dress up and continue to get involved in the event the more fun they will have.

The tradition carries on year in and year out because of how much joy it brings to the students.

Senior Max Oliver said, “I love that this tradition happens yearly because of how fun it is. Also, it is a lighthearted event after our basketball teams both play a hard game!”

The school only puts on two events each year so the turn out is great! The dance happening right after the basketball game encourages students to go to the games to cheer on our lions.

Freshman have never been to the Texas Stomp before, so they have a lot to look forward to.

Freshman Lindsay Burnett said, “I am excited to see what it consists of. Everyone’s always saying how fun it is, but I am excited to see for myself. Also, I am excited to dress up in all of my Texas wear and learn to line dance.”

It is a wonderful time for the student body to come together as a whole and celebrate the Texas culture.
