At what age did you start debating?
“I started debating in the seventh grade when I was 14 years old.”

How many hours a week do you practice?
“The hours a week I practice typically depend on everything that is going on that week.”

What is one thing you are working on to improve right now?
“One thing that I am working on improving right now is having to adapt to the Zoom format, which has been a challenge.”

What events do you debate in and why?
“The events that I debate in are: Extemporaneous and Congress. I debate in Extemporaneous because it is useful for school and just life in general. I debate in ]Congress because it is fun and I have made a lot of friends that way.”

What are a few of the nicknames that your teammates call you?
“Some of the nicknames that my teammates call me are: Bry, Bryson, and B.”

How would your teammates describe you?
“I think my teammates would describe me as hardworking, and to some of the younger grades, strict.”

Who is your role model and why?
“My role model is definitely Nacho Libre. He is my role model because he takes risks and I like that.”

What is the hardest thing about Debate class?
“The hardest thing about Debate [class] is that in the beginning, learning how to debate was difficult, but now it is growing to be better.”

What hobbies do you enjoy outside of debate?
“Outside of debate, I am a graphic designer and do a lot of work in Photoshop. I also teach immigrants so they can get their citizenship at the Light of Immigration Law Center.”

What is something that stresses you out?
“The Carbon Dioxide debate theme topics are really tough. Also, just things in school like tests.”

What is something that you are a pro at?
“I am a pro at Super Smash Bros!”

What do you want to do before you die?
“Before I die, I want to go to Colombia and visit my birth mother.”

What is one thing about yourself that most people do not know?
“Most people do not know that I am a pretty weird guy and have interesting humor.”

Lucas Skeans is a Senior and first year member of the LionNationOnline Staff, he serves as a Staff Writer. He enjoys hanging out with friends and family. When he's not in class, he plays soccer on the PCA varsity team and Lacrosse as well. He lacks previous experience writing for newspapers but has high hopes for the year. He hopes that this will be a fun class where he can learn alot and gain some new skills.
